Huawei Mate X3 officially launched with a 120Hz AMOLED Panel

A new member of Huawei’s “X” series of foldable phones has been unveiled. The new Mate X3 has a 7.85-inch AMOLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU. Let’s go through the specifications, attributes, and anticipated cost of the Huawei Mate X3 in India.

Design / Form Factor

Huawei teased the foldable with the slogan “light as a wing, firm as a rock. In keeping with the slogan, the Mate X3 foldable phone weighs 239 grams less and is 5.33 mm (unfolded) thinner than the Huawei Mate X2 which weighed 295 grams and had an unfolded thickness of 8.5 mm.

Display

Compared to the Mate X2’s 8-inch panel, the phone’s 7.85-inch LTPO foldable display is a little smaller. 2496 x 2224 pixels and 426 PPI make up its resolution. On the other hand, the cover display, at 6.4 inches, doesn’t change. The resolution is 2504 x 1080 pixels, and the PPI is the same at 426. On both displays, Huawei has added 1440 Hz PWM dimming for eye protection.

On the exterior display, “Kunlun” glass has been employed by the company as a display protector. The Mate 50 series also makes use of the same glass. This glass has a 10-fold boost in drop resistance, claims Huawei, making it an ultra-high strength drop-resistant material.

Performance

The Mate X3’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU provides power behind the hood. Due to the U.S.A.’s ban on Huawei, this will only support the 4G network. The silicon uses TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process and has a primary X2 core running at 3.2GHz. 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage are included.

The Mate X3 uses an innovative flexible conductive layer and a cross-hinge cooling technology to control thermals. Because of its 20% bigger heat dissipation area than its predecessor, the screen is better able to distribute heat over its two parts. Similarly, the device launches HarmonyOS 13.1, which is based on Android 13.
