Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Overview:
Enhanced Performance & Power Efficiency
In terms of performance and power use, Qualcomm asserts that this new chipset outperforms the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 it replaced. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is built using TSMC’s 4nm (N4) manufacturing node and includes a “1+3+4” CPU architecture. The main CPU core on this device is rated at 2.91 GHz, and according to the manufacturer, the 7+ Gen 2 has 50% more CPU performance than the 7 Gen 1.
Three Cortex-A710 (clocked at 2.49 GHz) and four Cortex-A510 (clocked at 1.8 GHz) cores make up the remaining CPU cluster. On the other hand, Qualcomm claims that its undisclosed Adreno GPU has superior power efficiency and a 2x performance gain. It supports UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM up to 3200 MHz in terms of memory.
Other Features
The “Auto Variable Rate Shading” feature of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 conserves energy and resources by rendering gaming scenarios in the foreground in high resolution while the background is rendered in low resolution. The “Volumetric Rendering” function from Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip has also been added.
The ISP has been upgraded to an 18-bit Triple ISP, which requires stacking 30 images into one, for improved low-light photography. This chipset enables 200MP sensors, HDR video capture, and simultaneous triple exposure capture from two cameras.
