Xiaomi 13 launching globally with Leica camera

The introduction of Xiaomi’s 13 Series across the globe in February has been formally announced by the company. The Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 are the only two devices in the series. There is a separate post that goes into great detail on the Pro model. The Xiaomi 13’s features, availability, and anticipated pricing in India will all be covered in this article.

Xiaomi 13 Overview:

Design

The Xiaomi 13 first gets a fresh appearance with an updated camera bump and flat side frames that provide an iPhone-like feel. In this instance, the frames are constructed from a lightweight aluminum alloy that has a lovely shine to it. Additionally to the traditional black and white hues, it is also available in fresh green (3D glass) and distant mountain blue (nano-tech leather) hues.

The latter is a simulated leather skin with exceptional anti-dirt capabilities made using nanotechnology. If there is a stain on the back panel of this device, Xiaomi claims it may be simply removed with a paper towel.

In addition, the Xiaomi 13 is available in a Limited Edition that is only available in China. The only difference between this edition and the standard model is that they come in more vivid color schemes. Five distinct color choices are available: Flame Red, Gem Blue, Cement Ashes, Hurricane Yellow, and Jungle Green.

Aside from having a high-end appearance, the device is also highly portable, weighing only 189 grams and having a thickness of 7.89mm. The Xiaomi 13 is also IP68-certified for resistance to water and dust.

Display

The display itself has a diagonal measurement of 6.36 inches. This is a Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, as would be expected. It lacks LTPO technology in contrast to the Pro variant but matches the 13 Pro’s maximum brightness of 1900 nits.

Xiaomi 13 Display

Additionally, Xiaomi claims that this E6 display uses 22% less brightness than the Xiaomi 12 at the same brightness setting. Almost all HDR standards, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR 10, and HLG, are supported by the corporation as well.

This time, a color temperature sensor is included inside the phone, enabling it to automatically change the screen’s color temperature in response to its surroundings. For biometrics, you also receive an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Camera

The Xiaomi 13’s cameras are now one of its most notable features. Not only because of the new appearance, but also because Leica imaging capabilities are included. Here, the professional optical lens from Leica is used by all three rear cameras.

The primary sensor is a Sony IMX800 sensor with a 7P lens that lets more light through the sensor and a 50MP, 23mm, 1/1.49′′ resolution. In order to reduce glare, the main unit also incorporates a novel cycloolefin material and an ultra-low reflection coating. Additionally, Xiaomi added Hyper OIS, which offers incredibly stable images and movies.

A 10MP telephoto with a 3x zoom and OIS capability comes next. moreover, a 12MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. Leica’s image capabilities go beyond only hardware and include software as well. There are four Leica picture modes that can be used to alter the color and tone while maintaining the uniqueness of the image. There is a 32MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies.

Processor

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU from Qualcomm is in charge of everything within. With a new, high-performance Cortex-X3 core, four performance cores (2.8GHz), and three efficiency cores (2.0GHz), this new SoC boosts performance by up to 37%.

Up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage can be found alongside the mobile silicon. The RAM and storage both rely on cutting-edge memory technology, notably LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, which ought significantly boost read/write speeds and multitasking performance.

Xiaomi has also added a 4642 mm2 vapor chamber cooling system to the high-performance smartphone to provide improved thermals during demanding tasks and gaming. Software-wise, the device runs MIUI 14, which was unveiled at the same event as the Xiaomi 13 Series and is based on Android 13.

Battery & Charging

A 4500mAh battery powers the phone and provided 1.37 days of battery life according to Xiaomi’s regular battery life test. Either a 67W wired charger or a 50W wireless charger can be used to recharge the phone. Additionally, 10W reverse charging is supported. In comparison to 50W wireless charging, which needs roughly 48 minutes to fully charge, the wired method allows you to charge from 0% to 100% in 38 minutes.

For efficient battery management, Xiaomi has also added its own P1 and G1 Surge co-processors. This dual-chip technique was first implemented on the pricey 12S Ultra, and it is now present in the base model of the Xiaomi 13 Series.

Others

The Xiaomi 13 also includes three-dimensional twin speakers that can play Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio files (Wireless). The Xiaomi Buds 4 and Dolby’s head tracking technology on the phone together create an immersive experience.
